Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is used to replace or create alveolar bone (jaw bone) to allow for placement of dental implants or to restore natural boney contour for cosmetic purposes. This procedure is performed using various sources of grafting material. In some cases the patient’s own bone can be used and taken from different places in the jaw.
Other times bone is used from other sources including human donor bone, bovine (cow bone), and synthetic forms. All sources of grafting materials are very safe and only tissue banks with the highest safety standards and ratings are used by our office.
